Beverly Community Advisory Council - Community Advisory Council
Committed to Our Community

Welcome to the Community Advisory Council page. Our intent is to communicate the activities of the Advisory Council and how it will assist the Beverly Police department and the citizens of Beverly, Ma. We meet once a month and welcome participation.

The Beverly Police Department Community Advisory Council (CAC) is an all-volunteer committee representative of the City of Beverly. The CAC is intended to foster and facilitate communication and understanding between the Beverly Police Department and the community. It is dedicated to improving the quality of life in the City's neighborhoods. The goal is to identify and prioritize community needs and concerns as well as recommending measures for addressing them to the Police Department. By developing a partnership between the community and the Policed, the citizens will become educated on police practices and procedures, and the Police Department becomes better informed about the community. We encourage all persons who live, work or use services in the community to participate in our council meetings. People who are interested in our Council and would further information can feel free to contact Sergeant Phil McCarthy at (978)921-6040 ext. 2520 or pmccarthy@beverlyma.gov

Our next meeting is Tuesday, July 12, 2011. This meeting will be held at the Landmark School at the President's Lodge from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM and is our annual Police Department Recognition Day. All Police Department Personnel, their family and friends are invited to attend.

We have initiated a Graffiti Task Force and recently a community check was done and a list of areas with graffiti was presented to Chief Ray for action. Activities on graffiti removal continue. We are currently discussing a process of notification of graffiti as well as a way in which to contact landlords and merchants where graffiti has been seen. We are exploring a multi-media notification system where anyone can call or email a location of graffiti.

Lists will be compiled and the appropriate city department will notify the Sheriff's department for clean up activities.

A reverse 911 system is in place and if residents or businesses are interested in being notified by the Police Department regarding important notices and information, they are invited to contact the police station on their business line or visit the police station to set up their contact information. Information is also on www.beverlyma.gov and select the police department link for further information as well.

A medication take-back program was conducted at 55 Tozier Road on September 25. People who had medications in their home and could dispose of them by bringing them to the medication take back program. This program was a huge success and will be scheduled again for the sometime in the spring.

Consumer Reports recently published an article entitled "7 Things To Stop Doing Now on Facebook" this article can be found at the following web site address: http://finance.yahoo.com/family-home/article/109538/7-things-to-stop-doing-now-on-facebook. This article gives directions on how to use Facebook safely and how to monitor the usage of facebook by young people.
